Advanced Approaches to Oil Painting *FULL
September 21- December 14, 2017, THURSDAYS 6-9PM
Students will jump right into their personal projects and guided how to strategically develop a painting from the idea stage, to the development stage to a successful oil painting. There will be a focus on making informed choices about oil painting materials and tools. Various contemporary approaches to using life, photographic and digital references will be explored throughout the class in discussions and demonstrations. Students will combine painting and verbal vocabularies to gain more confidence in their painting practice.

Alla Prima Portrait Painting Weekend Workshop *
November 11-12, 2017, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY 9-4PM
Work with a live model on alla prima portrait painting (direct painting) in this weekend crash course. Through step-by-step instruction and demonstration, students will learn to navigate big drawing decisions regarding composition and proportion, and learn to clarify what they are seeing into simple shapes and forms. Our second day will focus on creating form with the paint through the maintenance of value structure and attention to shifts in hue, temperature and chroma.

High School Portfolio Development
Portfolio development is recommended for high school juniors and seniors looking to build strong portfolios for college applications. Cindy has 6 years experience working as a NASAD accredited art college Admissions Officer, reviewing portfolios for acceptance. She attended hundreds of National and Regional Portfolio Days, and visited high schools from the Midwest-East counseling students about art school and reviewing application portfolios. With this unique experience, Cindy will demystify the art college application process, and advise students on their portfolios as needed for a strong application.
