Painting Interpreting the PhotoFULL
New Hampshire Institute of Art
January 30 - April 16 6-9PM
UPDATED: Class FULL
Students will learn to successfully use photographic references as a tool to make paintings. What makes a good reference? How can artists move past a mere copy of the photograph and make a painting? We will sort through these questions through discussion, demonstration, and studio practice. Students will use their own photography with an emphasis on making informed choices that complement the stylistic preferences of the student.
Alla Prima Portrait Painting Weekend Workshop *
Date TBD, Spring 2020
Work with a live model on alla prima portrait painting (direct painting) in this weekend crash course. Through step-by-step instruction and demonstration, students will learn to navigate big drawing decisions regarding composition and proportion, and learn to clarify what they are seeing into simple shapes and forms. Our second day will focus on creating form with the paint through the maintenance of value structure and attention to shifts in hue, temperature and chroma.
*Intermediate figure drawing experience required. Contact instructor for more details firstname.lastname@example.org
Cindy is available to visit local schools as a visiting artist. Please contact email@example.com for more information
